- Nyack celebrates the planet with its annual Earth Day Nyack festival. Enjoy live music, children’s activities, vendors and artisans offering environmentally friendly and sustainable products including natural foods, demonstrations and art projects with a focus on global awareness and local action. The event is from noon to 5 p.m. at Veterans Park Gazebo (Main Street and Cedar Street). Details HERE.
- Help keep Rockland beautiful by helping to remove litter at area parks and waterways. Rockland’s Great American Cleanup runs through May with plenty of opportunities for pitching in. On Saturday, volunteers are needed in Nyack, Congers, Montebello, Sparkill, and West Haverstraw. On Sunday, April 17 volunteers are needed in Haverstraw and Sloatsburg. - Rockland Community College in Suffern is hosting Earth Day events from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Union where you'll find eco-friendly vendors, a yoga class and a pet a snake opportunity. There will also be lots of prizes and Earth Day trivia. Go HERE for details.

- St. Thomas Aquinas College and Columbia University/Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory are hosting an Earth Day Fair on the front lawn of St. Thomas Aquinas College (125 Route 340) in Sparkill from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Guests will learn about environmental issues and sustainability solutions. - Feel like a drive? Celebrate the opening of a new outdoor learning and activity area at a special ceremony at noon, on the shores of Hessian Lake at Bear Mountain State Park. The exhibit which includes educational and interpretive signs, hands-on displays and activity stations, informs visitors about the trail’s origins and allows users to experience trail features such as bog bridges, turnpike, coping stones, crib walls, and step construction.
